Twenty-five young people from across South Wales were treated to an exclusive DJ master-class on 3rd June, organised and hosted by Escape Into The Park.

Those attending the session came from ‘Young and Gifted’ and ‘Young Vibes’ (the local DJ groups in Pontarddulais) plus young people who access services via the Swansea Youth Offending Service.

They were given a DJ tutorial by international professional DJs, with an introduction to DJ equipment and basic skills in beat matching. The event was supported by the Swansea Youth Offending Service, the Youth Service and the Andrew Kent Music Academy.

Young and Gifted

Young and Gifted:

A group of young people from Pontarddulais approached their Youth Worker requesting DJ workshops. The idea grew and developed into Young and Gifted, a project that is run in partnership with the Youth Service and the Youth Offending Service.
The group have developed skills in DJ-ing, beat matching and mixing and producing music tracks. The group have also trained to become mentors to a new DJ group ‘Young Vibes’.
The group have recorded their own track and produced a DVD which can be found in the video gallery of SYAN
Their track was showcased to an audience of three hundred people at an event in October 2009.
