Swansea Youth Action Network (SYAN) brings together young people aged 11–25 who want to make a positive impact upon their community. We recognise that ‘Young People Matter!’, that they have an important role to play in community life, and that their commitment should be matched by proper training and accreditation.
SYAN currently supports 15 peer-led Youth Action Groups, each focusing on community safety issues that matter in their neighbourhood. They use music, street-dance, theatre, visual arts and multimedia to explore these community issues. Their work is celebrated annually at a local event, showcasing the achievements of each Youth Action Group.
SYAN welcomes new members who are keen to take part in new opportunities, youth volunteering, team building and skill building. Interested? Click here to contact a project worker.
This initiative is delivered by the City and County of Swansea and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's Safer Communities Fund.
